We are pleased to present the third issue of our bulletin Notes.ug - a notebook from Uganda. Find out where the kingdom of Buganda came from and learn more about Ugandan culture. And can you guess the typical Ugandan puzzle?

Úvodní slovo: V minulém čísle jsme si ukázali, čím si musela projít Uganda, aby se stala takovou, jakou je nyní. Zbývá však otázka, čím si museli projít Uganďané, aby se stali těmi, kým jsou nyní. Proto si dnešní číslo klade nelehký úkol, a to poodkrýt tradice a zvyky ugandských obyvatel, jejich přesvědčení a jejich pohled na svět. Nelehký proto, že zdánlivě jednoznačný pojem „Uganďan“ ve skutečnosti skrývá velmi pestrou škálu nejrůznějších etnik s vlastním jazyky, kulturou a zvyklostmi. Proto se v tomto čísle podíváme pouze na jediné, a to tamější největší etnikum Baganda (16,5 % obyvatel), či pouze Ganda, s jazykem Luganda, z království Buganda – centrální Uganda.

Foreword: in the last issue, we showed what Uganda had to go through to become what it is now. However, the question remains as to what the Ugandans had to go through to become who they are now. That is why today's issue has the difficult task of revealing the traditions and customs of the Ugandan people, their beliefs and their worldview. Not easy because the seemingly unambiguous term "Ugandan" actually hides a very diverse range of different ethnicities with their own languages, cultures and customs. Therefore, in this issue we will look at only one, namely the largest ethnic group Baganda (16.5% of the population), or only Ganda, with the language of Luganda, from the kingdom of Buganda - central Uganda.
